Well! I've lived in NM on and off since 1968... and never knew what that stuff is called! Thanks for the education, Sky777!

You are welcome! The stuff has been coming down on and off all day, interspersed with blue skies and fluffy white clouds. Never a dull moment!

I have seen it here in Minnesota but not very often. The water molecule is quite interesting in many ways but then I had a secondary major in Chemistry, so you see this was right up my alley.

And looking at your reply to Steve Schmidt back when he decided that running Dean Phillips, my Congressman to primary Biden was the noble calling he needed to do. Yeah, right...he needed a paycheck and Phillips was an easy mark.

Well, that worked out well, didn't it. Really put some numbers up...my fav, was Phillips at perhaps NH with about 500 donuts and no attendees.

And snow? We were just glad to get some this week!

And I sure do hope that Phillips shows up for every House vote now that he isn’t out campaigning.

Yes! He disclosed he was not going to run again, so now likely another seat to fight to keep. Yeah, Phillips the gift that keeps giving. He sent his newsletter last week just like nothing going on with him. He was OK. He was very middle of the road and thet was considered to be a republican seat and was held for 8 years prior.

I hope we keep it D!

I LOVE the H2O molecule! And l loved all the chemistry classes I took. Fascinating. I have always been quietly amazed about the properties of water. I had an outdoor pond in NJ. That ice floats allowed my fish to gracefully sink to the bottom and hibernate during the winter. This scenario plays out in ponds and lakes across the world. It continues to leave me in awe. And to almost believe in a sentient purposeful creator.

Ditto. I still remember hearing, "water, the universal solvent" in junior high and I took notice so I guess I was hooked back then.

Next time I see Graupel I might have to ask, Sublimate, much? It seems to just disappear!

That was a good post today! Yep, we can always learn something new!

Thanks! I count as a good day when I learn something new.

We see a lot of sublimation here in the arid west. Almost never saw it back east.

I don't know what "normal" winters will be after this last one. In Minnesota, we often had enough snow days to get at least one maybe two, no school snow days OR even too cold to go to school days. But not this year. It was warm and almost no snow, at all. Of course it is easier to drive around on dry streets but it won't be great for farming which is what the state needs snow for. Our democratic party is the DFL; democratic farmer & labor party. I do hope our democracy will not evaporate like our snow drifts have in our cold, cold winters. But you never know!

We have noticed a change here too. Much less snow each winter. We need the moisture. We also need the snow pack on the mountains to provide water for farming in the spring/summer. And March weather (windy and dusty) now lasts for e months!

Every time I hear of a problem related to climate change, I mutter, “Should have voted for Gore in 2000”. At least he had a brain, a plan, and a commitment to addressing the issues of climate change. But no. Apparently the electorate Prefered W. Because they would rather have him than Gore at their backyard barbecue. 🙄

And now the same people are being conned completely.

Unbelievable.

Yep. Thanks a lot Phillips. Did he really think he had a chance? Probably some Republican operative was whispering in his ear. 😳🙄

I haven’t forgiven Steve yet. Sounds like others haven’t either. If that seat flips Schmidt will be complicit.

Loved your post, Sky! I actually learned something. I had seen the graupel, but just thought it was small hail. Thank you.
